Stocktwits

Product Designer, 2023–present

Stocktwits is the original social platform for traders and investors — millions of people across web, iOS, and Android, talking about every asset that moves. Over three years I've designed every major surface in the product and the launches that defined it: live earnings calls, AI Streams that sort a thousand-post stream by topic, Cryptotwits, and the code-first design system that changed how the team works.

A design system that runs in code

Every Figma component, rebuilt as working React with AI tooling, so the team prototypes real ideas in a day.

The problem

Stocktwits had a mature Figma library, but nothing in it could be touched. Every concept — a product manager's idea, a growth test, a new page — had to be drawn, reviewed, and then rebuilt by engineering before anyone could click it. The gap between "what if" and "try it" was a week or more, and most ideas died in that gap.

What I did

I rebuilt the entire library as code. Working with Claude Code and Cursor, I translated every Figma component — tokens, type, buttons, inputs, cards, feed modules, charts, navigation — into React components that match the source one to one, then composed them into page templates for the home feed, symbol page, onboarding, and profile. It's documented as a browsable site the whole team can open, fork, and share.

Impact

Time to stakeholder buy-in dropped to days. Design reviews happen on working UI, in the browser, with real data shapes. Engineers get a reference implementation instead of a redline.

The TSLA earnings call live room: listeners, price, sentiment bar, and the chat tab

Live earnings calls

The call, the chart, and the crowd in one surface.

The problem

Earnings were already the busiest moments on Stocktwits, but the call itself happened somewhere else. Traders listened to a webcast in one tab, watched the price in another, and posted in a third. The reaction lived on Stocktwits; the event didn't.

What I did

I designed a live audio player that puts the call inside the symbol page: pre-call discussion, live chat, listener counts, and bullish and bearish reactions that shift visibly as the call unfolds, with chat, data, and transcript views. It works expanded and collapsed on web, iOS, and Android, so you can keep listening while you read the stream or move through the app.

Impact

Earnings calls became a live event on the platform instead of a link out of it.

The TSLA symbol page in the Cryptotwits theme: dark surfaces, yellow accents, AI topic chips above the stream

Cryptotwits

A crypto-native home inside Stocktwits, designed from zero and shipped in 2025.

The problem

Crypto had become a large share of what people talked about on Stocktwits, but the product was built around tickers, market hours, and equities conventions. Crypto traders were using a stock app sideways — no clean home for tokens or chains, and no place for a conversation that never closes.

What I did

I designed Cryptotwits from the ground up: the information architecture, token and category pages, dedicated streams and sentiment, and the mobile and web surfaces — plus the crypto landing page, the launch motion, and the app store and social assets that announced it. Same design system, different rhythm: always on, faster, more visual.

Impact

Launched May 2025 across web, iOS, and Android. Gave Stocktwits a credible answer for crypto-native traders without forking the product.

AI Streams

Topic filtering that makes a thousand-post stream readable.

The problem

A symbol stream during a big move is thousands of posts an hour — earnings takes, options flow, chart reads, news links, and jokes, all interleaved. The people with something to say were buried under the people reacting to them, and there was no way to read only the part of the conversation you came for.

What I did

I designed AI Streams: every post is classified by topic as it arrives — earnings, options, technicals, news, macro, memes — and a row of chips above the stream filters it in place. I designed the chip states, the empty and sparse states for when a topic is quiet, and the transitions that let posts reorder without the stream jumping under your thumb. Shipped on web, iOS, and Android.

Impact

Time on the symbol page rose 164% after AI Streams launched. Filtering turned the busiest streams from something you scrolled past into something you could read.
